He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Chappell and Opal Rush Chappell; his wife Betty Warren; his son David Chappell; and his granddaughter Brittany Zeornes.
He is survived by: his daughters, Wendy Chappell of Hiawatha and Bobbie Jean Wilson of Glasgow, Kentucky; and his brother Carl Chappell of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
