He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Schmidt and Verna Schmidt (Fleming); his wife Shirley Plenert; his son Jim Schmidt; and his brothers, Harold and Wesley Schmidt.
He is survived by: his brother Ernest Schmidt; his nieces, Cindy Miller and Kimberly Moon; and his sister-in-law Betty Schmidt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
