He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Schlesener and Emilia Schlesener (Gentz); his siblings, Eugene, Dale and Helen Herpich; and his son-in-law Tony Lightfoot.

He is survived by: his spouse Catheryn L. Weber; his children, Gregory Quentin, Jason Vincent, Lisa Kay, Rachel Janell, Greg Schlesener, Lisa Lightfoot of Herington and Rachel Hawkins of Seymour, Iowa; and his brothers, Verl Schlesener and Donald Schlesener. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
