He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Nelson and Helen Nelson (Ivonne Sue). He is survived by: his children, Patsy Guerrero (Benny) and Jody Nelson (Shelly); and his siblings, Roger Nelson, Doug Nelson (Jacque), Jim Nelson (Dene), Rick Nelson (Janice) and Cindy Vanwey (Bob). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the West Haysville Baptist Church (141 N Lamar Ave, Haysville, KS 67060).
