It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger L. Hanhardt of Hays, Kansas, born in Great Bend, Kansas, who passed away on July 11, 2022, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Albert Hanhardt and Ella Hanhardt (Folkerts); his wife Sally Jo (Mapes) of Hays; his stepsons, Jesse Pfannenstiel of Topeka and Andrew Pfannenstiel of Colorado Springs, CO; his brother Don Hanhardt (Marty) of Albert; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Brooks and Scarlett Pfannenstiel.

Memorials may be made payable to Disabled American Veterans, Peace Lutheran Church, or to Messiah Lutheran Church.

“Condolences to Sally Jo & Family! I served with Roger in the US Army medical corps Vietnam for a year. Always a stand up guy, popular with everyone in our platoon, & good friend. Slept in the bunk above him & always joked that he was safer in the lower bunk because nothing could penetrate my thick skull if we got hit. Rog was my March madness basketball guru as he helped me with my pool. He will be truly missed. Many Blessings to his dear family & friends. Warmly, Michael Christopherson “Chris””
