He was predeceased by: his parents, August Befort and Helen Befort (Pfeifer); his brother George Befort; his stepson Kevin Spies; and his brother-in-law Robert F Klaus.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Befort (Spies); his sons, Sean Befort (Whitney) and Matthew Befort of Seattle, Wash; his stepchildren, Kent Spies (Michelle LePlume), Kandy Biesterfeld (Brian), Broomfield, Kari Dean (Brian) of Gilbert, AZ and Nicole Spies of Gulf Breeze, FL; and his sister Alberta Klaus of Hays, KS. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
