It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert P. Dechant of Hays, Kansas, born in Gorham, Kansas, who passed away on February 18, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Dechant and Margaret Dechant (Rohr); his wife Viola Holzmeister; his siblings, Virgil, Alvin Dechant, Irene Sander and Evelyn Erickson; and his grandson Curtis Jacob Dechant.
He is survived by: his children, Raymond Dechant (Lori) of Dodge City, Brian Dechant of Hays, Eric Dechant of Hays, Joan Freeman (Sam) of Ellinwood and Myra Kreutzer of Hays; and his siblings, Eugene Dechant of Seattle, WA, Duane Dechant of Kansas City, Harold Dechant (Madeline) of Virginia, Betty Ann Knoll of Liberal, Barbara Jean Zerr (Henry) of Garden City, Marietta Dechant of Casper, WY, Roseline Ziegler of Englewood, CO and Ann Ziegler of Olmitz. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
