She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Willie Smith and Frances Julia Smith (Kruger); her husband Denny D. Smith; her sons, Christopher Smith (Jason Blackwell) of Los Angeles, CA and Alden Smith (Phyllis) of Mundelein, IL; her stepson Brent Smith (Lynn Hoobler) of Topeka; her brother Hugh Lee Smith (Cheryl) of Marble Falls, TX; her grandson Kinton Smith (Sarah); and her great grandchild Ronin. She was also cherished by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorials may be made payable to Lions Club or to Christopher Smith to be used for journalism programs in schools where Frances taught, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
