He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Brungardt and Beatrice Brungardt (Karlin); and his grandson Joshua Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Schmeidler; his children, Shane Brungardt (Coleen) of Shawnee, Kansas and Julie Johnston (Eric) of Overland Park, Kansas; his siblings, P. J. Karlin of Lawrence, Terrence Brungardt (Karen) of Overland Park, Lionel "Bud" Brungardt (Linda) of Great Bend, Kansas and Donna Kaberlein (Don) of Olathe; and his grandchildren, Noah Johnston, El Brungardt and Kara Brungardt.

For those attending the family requests all to wear face masks due to Covid concerns.
