Jeremy Don Hunter Obituary

Jeremy Don Hunter was born early in the morning on December 31, 1983 in Harper, Kansas to Earvelya Pauline Hunter. Growing up in Harper, Jeremy attended Harper Elementary before moving to Herrington, Kansas, where he attended Junior High. About 2 years later he moved back to Harper and attended Chaparral High School for a short time, later earning his GED. Jeremy was a loving kid. He shared a special love and bond with his great-grandma, even having a special name for her, "pretty grandma." This soon caught on as a name for her by all the other kids.

At the age of 18, Jeremy moved to Scott City, Kansas with his cousin Dalores and the two worked at the nursing home. He always liked older people, possibly because he saw his mother do that line of work. Jeremy again returned to Harper and went to work at the Country Creamery. He worked in the kitchen and as a waiter and he really liked working with Mr. Jim.

Starting a family and marrying Holly Stinson, Jeremy was blessed with three girls: Kira, Mia, and Lilly. Working hard to provide for his family, Jeremy worked in the oil field and then the packing plant. The last job he had was in roofing and construction, and he really enjoyed this kind of work. A deep love for his own kids, Jeremy had a passion for coaching youth soccer, basketball, and football. He was even on the recreation board and really had a heart for kids.

After a few days on life support, the family discovered Jeremy had signed up to be an organ donor. When it was clear there was no hope for recovery, they started the process to fulfill Jeremy's wishes and give other families hope of more time with their loved ones. At the age of 37 years, 10 months, and 11 days, Jeremy passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia on November 11, 2021. With the help of the team at Midwest Transplant, Jeremy was able to help 4 strangers with their medical struggles.

Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronnie Hunter and Marie Broussard, and his cousin, Izaiah Chavez. He is survived by his mother, Earvelya Olson (Christopher) of Harper; children: Kira, Mia, and Lilly Hunter; siblings, Tiffany Hartson (Dameion) and Joshua Hunter, all of Harper; stepfather, Glen Schuster and grandmother, Yvonne Schuster, both of Herrington, Kansas; other relatives and several friends.

Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Harper United Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Cremation will then take place.

Memorials may be made to Jeremy Hunter Memorial Fund (to assist with funeral expenses) or Midwest Transplant and can be sent in care of the funeral home. Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 613 W 14th St ~ Harper, Kansas 67058.
