He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Schramm and Wilhelmina Schramm (Klipp); his siblings, Evelyn Meyer and Norbert Schramm; his brothers-in-law, Paul Meyer and Rodney Meyer; and his nephew Gordon Meyer.

He is survived by: his wife Darla of Beatrice, NE; his children, Barry Smith (Nadine) of Lincoln, NE and Jami Mayfield (David) of Marion, KS; his sister Leona Meyer of Marysville, KS; his sister-in-law Valeda Schramm of Hanover, KS; his grandchildren, Chase Williams of Florence, KS, Kayla Williams of Andover, KS, Carly Smith of Lincoln, NE, Colin Williams (Emily) of Manhattan, KS and Parker Smith of Lincoln, NE; and his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brantley, Kamber and Kenlee Williams.

A memorial fund has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover.
