He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis "Red" Shelton and Bernadene Dodge Shelton. He is survived by: his children, Cathy Shelton Boykin of Crestview, FL, Angela Shelton (Terri), Barbara Shelton Anthes (Chris) and Rodney R. Shelton, Jr.; his grandchildren, Melody Tarro, Jonathon Tarro (Erin), Courtney Schanck (Robert) and Morgan Anthes; and his great grandchildren, Joseph, Cian, Danielle, Lillie and Teagan.
