He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Schugart and Anna Schugart (Hlavaty); and his sister Geneva Horner. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Schugart; his children, Brenda Richardson (Scott) of Pratt, Rhonda Rickert of Wichita, Jeff Schugart of Kansas City and Rex Schugart (Jan) of Kansas City; his grandchildren, Sara (Justin), Brad (Jordon), Brett, Austin, Ali (Alec), Michael, Annie, John, Grant, Ryan (Becca) and Ty (Jordan); and his great grandchildren, Emersyn, Whitley, Braylen and Leo.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St Patrick Catholic Church (4100 Broadway Ave, Great Bend, KS 67530).
He was recognized by the American Red Cross for donating almost 23 gallons of blood which went on to help so many.
