He is survived by: his wife Linda Akard; his children, David Akard of Great Bend, Christy Romero (Aaron) of Cimarron and Angela Gordon (Curtis) of Wichita; his siblings, Jerry Akard of Paris, Tex. and Dot Dankowski (Herb) of Paris, Tex.; his grandchildren, Erica McEnulty, Caleb Romero, Travis Gordon, Corey Gordon and Eric Gordon; and his great grandchild Grayson Forrest.
