He was predeceased by: his mother Mary McKay (Clowers); and his brother Kevin McKay. He is survived by: his father David J. McKay; his wife Angie Caudill; his children, Reese McKay (Emily) of Texas, Baxter McKay of Topeka, Joshua Caudill of Hope and Stephanie Krom (Joshua) of Great Bend; his brother David L. McKay (Cheryl); and his sister-in-law Tracey McKay of Wichita. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
