He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter J. Schmidt and Katherine Schmidt (Unruh); his siblings, Elsie, Dorothy, Harvey and Bill; and his son-in-law Gene Hastings.
He is survived by: his wife Meribeth Schmidt of Goessel; and his children, Cindy Hastings of Newton and Russ Schmidt (Bart) of San Francisco, CA..
