He was predeceased by: his mother Camilla Pontious. He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Murray (Jeremiah) of Pittsburg, KS, Jessica Phillips (Bobby) of Girard, KS and Janice Birdwell (William "Billy") of Woodland, CA; and his grandchildren, Joseph Thyer, William T. Birdwell Jr. and Kyle McGeorge.
In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the SEK Humane Society.
