He was predeceased by: his parents, William T. Umbarger and Ruby Umbarger (Swisher); and his siblings, Gary Umbarger, Ronnie Umbarger, Jerry Umbarger and Norma Allen.

He is survived by: his wife Flora Umbarger; his children, Debbie Hampton of Garnett, Kansas, Bill Umbarger (Linda) of Garnett, Kansas and Greg Umbarger (Tabatha) of Van Buren, Arkansas; and his siblings, Bob Umbarger (Donna) of Garnett, Kansas, Curtis Umbarger (Mary Ann) of Garnett, Kansas, David Umbarger (K. D.) of Cortez, Colorado, Edith Christy of Garnett, Kansas and Barbara Graham (Larry) of Pittsburg, Kansas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.
