He was predeceased by: his mother Janet Katherine Mortensen of Cedar Falls, IA.. He is survived by: his father Mark Richard Hughes (Penny) of Topeka, Kansas; his children, Caitlin Morin (Ely Bishop) of Lacygne, Mason, Makiya Hughes of Kitchner, Ontario and Trenton Howe of Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Abigail Morin, Paislee Morin, Alaric Bishop and Ollie Bishop; and his brothers, Mike Hughes (Amanda) of Topeka and Van Hughes (Brenda) of Romney.

Memorials are suggested to Enso Self Defense and MMA, Ottawa, Kansas and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
