He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ann (Herman) and Hugh Fredrick Thompson, Sr.; and his siblings, Charles, James, Betty Sue Huber, Mary Frances DeGrand and Rita Pennybaker.
He is survived by: his wife Arlene; and his children, Vicky (Jim) and Tim Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
