With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Gene Mertens of Garden Plain, Kansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 11, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Mertens and Lucille Miller Mertens; and his siblings, Lawrence, Ed, Don, John, Dorothy Swart, Rosella Henning, Pauline and Alice Jacobs.
He is survived by: his children, Ronn (Jamie), RodJoe (Dana) and Brenda Venard; his siblings, Leo, Leroy, Marvin, Karen Lubbers (Mike) and Helen Meyers; his grandchildren, Daniel Unruh, Alisha Loehr, Katelyn Hosford, Haley Prosser, Carly Reid, Brady, Brendan Frerichs, Cade, Colby Mertens and Cooper Venard; and his great grandchildren, Brentley, Hunter, Kayden, Banks Loehr, Paisley, Oakley Prosser, Saylor, Sophie Hosford, Lincoln and Oliver Unruh.
A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Leo Catholic Church. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
