He was predeceased by: his wife Kathy; his son Mike; and his close friend Husker. He is survived by: his children, Rod Thimesch (Jennifer) and Deanne Holmes (Trey); his siblings, Judy Thimesch, Irene Merrill, Carolyn Bergkamp (Duane), Daniel Thimesch (Ruth) and Janice May; and his grandchildren, Nick Thimesch (Jill), Kenzie Thimesch, Jordan, Taylor and Justin Joplin.

Memorials may be made to Garden Plain High School Booster Club and Council of Hope.
