He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa Troop and Clara Schlatter Troop; his former wife Lillie Malcolm; his grandson Darin Surridge; his stepdaughter Gayla Kurtz; his siblings, Howard, Harry, Hazel Foster, Ethel Hammond, Agnes Staggs and Ruth McLaughland; and his stepgreat-grandson Travis Humphreys.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Brouhard Humphreys; his children, Kevin Troop of McCune and Paula Surridge (Dick) of Parsons; his stepchildren, Terry Humphreys of Sedalia, MO, Brenda Deringer of Franklin and Pam Terry of Pittsburg; his sister Pearl Miller of Chelas; his grandchildren, Megan Parfait of Bougre, Pamela Nicole of Branson, MO, Ava Troop of Chanute and Dustin Surridge of Iola, KS; and his great grandchildren, Ryleigh Surridge, Reid Surridge and Heston Surridge. He is also survived by 12 step grandchildren and 24 step great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the KSGA Steel Guitar Club in Baxter Springs, KS in care of the funeral home.
