Gayla left this world on October 12, 2024 at the age of 90, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Charles Day and Bessie Day (Bennett); her uncle Jake Funk (Aunt Frankie); her former husband Dudley Kanaga; her children, Estie Grubbs, Mary Schuler (Gary), Marion, Rosie Prochaska (Brett), Ada, Joseph John, Rebecca Hunt (Lino Mendoza) of Houston, TX and Christy Scholes (Mickey) of Omaha, NE.; and her husband John R. Slemp (Bud). She was also cherished by 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Antioch Baptist Church.
