He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shay and Frankie Shay (Parks); and his siblings, Bud, George, Frank, Murdene Weatherby and Isabelle White.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Palmer; his son Pat Shay (Karla) of Fredonia, KS; his granddaughters, Danni (Dillion) and Marcy Shay of Lawrence, KS; his great grandchildren, Aubree and River Guffey of Fredonia, KS.; and his siblings, Mike Shay (Eva) of Altoona, KS, Nellie Claibourn and Linda Crain (Tom) of Fredonia, KS.
