He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Danny L. Shinn and Wilma M. Eastwood Shinn; his former wife Jane Forgoress; his son Gabriel; his wife Carla Morris; his son Gabe (Tracy) of Mebane; his grandchildren, Bryan Ballard (Lynn) of Lathrop, Sean Ballard (Jackie) of Kenilworth, Illinois, Grayson, Parker Shinn, Kyle, Matthew, Blake, Evan and Addie Ballard; his sisters, Dana Eudey of Tulia and Lorrain Cook of Yuma, Arizona.; and also Gunner.
