He was predeceased by: his father John Newton Shelton; and his brother Michael Shelton. He is survived by: his mother Geraldine Marsh Shelton of Ft. Scott; his daughters, Jackie Carillo of Tucson, Jennifer Schneider of Tucson and Tammi Martin of Greenfield; and his siblings, Larry Shelton (Cathy) of Ft. Scott, Steven Shelton (Roxanne) of Woodstock, Darryl Shelton (Deb) of Gardner, Don Shelton (Terri) of Ft. Scott, Kevin Shelton of Ft. Scott and Sharon Shelton of Ft. Scott. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
