He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Louis Thompson and Dorothy Lavona Thompson (Collins); his wife Carolyn Spurling; his brother Roy Thompson; and his children, Lavona Chapman and Eddie Thompson.
He is survived by: his daughter Laminda Thompson of Liberal, MO.; his grandchildren, Jacob Chapman (Ivy) of Joplin, MO., Kaysha Chapman of Joplin, MO., Brandon Thompson of Liberal, MO. and Katilyn Thompson of Liberal, MO.; and his siblings, Larry Thompson of Ft. Scott, KS, Linda Thompson of Ft. Scott, KS. and Sandra Lessley of Ft. Scott, KS.. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
