He was predeceased by: his parents, William George and Bertha Mae Smith (Sauerwein); his former wife Ruth Irene Johnston; and his brother William Smith. He is survived by: his wife Maxine Louise Kinney; his children, David Smith of Lawrence, Dennis Smith (Carol) of Louisburg and Sandra Bowzer (Greg) of Omaha, Nebraska; his sisters, Georgia Mae Hill and Ann Simonsen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and his stepchildren, Judy Kinney Hunter (Bill) of Platte City, Missouri and Doug Kinney (Lynn) of Manhattan, Kansas. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
