He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Harry Avey and Eva Nina Coberson Avey; and his siblings, Mae Boyd, Eva Kelly, Thelma Eves, Gladys Turner and Bennie Avey.
He is survived by: his daughter Carla Avey of Ft. Scott; and his sister Goldie Strader of Raymore. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
