He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Basel and Elisabeth Basel (Froschhauser); and his stepsons, Steven Lotterer and Jeff Lotterer. He is survived by: his former wife Ernestine "Ernie" Mae Lotterer (Bilyew); his daughter Sonja Basel (Germany) of Ludwigsburg; his granddaughter Lynn of Ludwigsburg; his stepchildren, Shelly Minton (Phil) of Pittsburg and Jay Lotterer (Crystal) of Pittsburg; and his sister Gisella.
