He was predeceased by: his parents, James Albert, Sr. and Mary McVay (Cease) of Virginia. He is survived by: his children, James McVay III of Springdale, AR, John McVay of Social Circle, GA and Gina Jew (Michael) of Reno, NV; his grandchildren, Kai McVay, Roxana Harrell, Jaycey McVay, Charlee Jew and Clarke Jew; and his siblings, Henry McVay (Rita) of Valley Center, KS, David McVay (Debbie) of Wamego, KS, Kathy Oliver (Paul) of Augusta, KS and Ruthi Howard (Larry) of Augusta, KS. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“Mr. McVay was my neighbor and teacher. I truly wish there was a boy's volleyball team when I was in high school because he coached some great teams and then I would have been able to experience him as a coach because my sister always remembered her volleyball days with him as their leader as some of her greatest memories in playing sports during high school. Not many people liked or understood geometry but he challenged my intellect and it was one of the classes I most enjoyed. -Mark Shultz”
