He was predeceased by: his parents, E. L. Mayes and Lucile Marks; his brother Donald Mayes; and his grandson Ryan Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Norma June Schaefer; his children, Sandra Brooks (Mike), Steven Mayes (Becky) of Emporia and Bart Mayes (Terry) of Berthoud, Colorado.; his grandchildren, Jason Brooks, Kelli Patton, Clint Mayes, Tyson Mayes, Jessica Dold, Megan Clopton and Rachael Clopton; and his great grandchildren, Tate Brooks, Acelynn Brooks, Gavin Mayes, Wyatt Mayes, Colin Patton and Blake Patton.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church (823 Merchant St, Emporia, KS 66801).
