He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth E. Milliken Piatt and Phil Piatt Sr.; his wife Virginia Best Piatt; his son Joseph Piatt; and his brother John Piatt (Elora Piatt).
He is survived by: his children, Steve, Joe, Stephen Piatt and Sharon Stirling (Bobby Kirkland); his grandchildren, Kasey, Shawn Stirling, Dalton Kirkland and Collin Stirling (Savannah); his daughter Linda Piatt (Michael Hack); his grandchildren, Darren and Audrey; and also, Mike Piatt and James Piatt.
