She was predeceased by: her parents, Seraphin Fredrick and Anna Dorothy Wendling (Fitzpatrick); her husband Willis Clayton Russell; her siblings, Lucille Trear, Theresa Coble and Father Francis Wendling; and her great grandchild Reese Naylor.
She is survived by: her children, Shirley Langley (Mike) of Olpe, KS, Jean Schif (Bob) of Derby, KS, James "Jim" Russell (Donna) of Emporia, KS, Jerome "Jerry" Russell (Julie) of Emporia, KS and Anthony "Tony" Russell (Lisa) of Wichita, KS; her siblings, Seraphin J. "Sonny" Wendling of Lebo, KS, Joseph "Joe" Wendling of Olpe, KS, John Wendling of Topeka, KS, Elizabeth "Betty" Lutz Black of Wylie, TX and Dorothy Blaufuss of Olpe, KS; and her grandchildren, Shannon Brokaw (Kevin), Preston Langley (Dee), C. J. "Christopher" Russell (Angie), Jennifer Naylor (Ryan), Kristie Schmidt (Lamont), Meribah Zirkle (Jake), Kirk Combes (Chelsea), Aaron, Ashlee, Jacob Schif, Baylee Holmes (Keaton), Joshua, Claire and Jameson Russell. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Marie was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia, the Altar Society of the church, Emporia Friends of the Zoo, Lyon County Historical Society, RSVP, and many other volunteer organizations.
The family requests no flowers. Contributions in Marie's memory may be given to the Church or Reese Naylor Fund with the Emporia Community Foundation sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas, which is in charge of arrangements.
