She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Dewey Edison and Verdie Reed Howell; her husband John Griffith Atherton (Jack); her daughters, Carolyn Atherton of Emporia and Rebecca Atherton of Sequim, Washington; her grandchildren, Brynne Atherton, Olivia Atherton, John "Jack" Atherton, Thomas Atherton and Michael Atherton; her brother Dewey Edison Howell, Jr.; and also, David Atherton (Anne) of Salina and Stephen Atherton (Kelly) of Olpe.
