Marvin Messerschmidt Obituary
Marvin N. Messerschmidt died Saturday August 7, 2010 at his home. He was 77. Marvin Nicholas Messerschmidt, the son of Matthew and Teresa (Leise) Messerschmidt, was born December 18, 1932 in Colwich, Kansas. He married Ruth Hogwood July 7, 1957 in Emporia. They later divorced. He then married Janice Merscick on July 7, 1975.

He is survived by four sons, Marvin Messerschmidt of Belton, Mo.; Mark Messerschmidt of Ottawa; Scott Messerschmidt and Todd Messerschmidt both of Emporia; three sisters, Una May Foster of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Sylvia Kaiser of Garden City; Donna Hammond of Emporia; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; first wife, Ruth Merchant of Seneca, Mo.; and second wife, Janice Messerschmidt of Emporia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, LeRoy Messerschmidt; Clement Messerschmidt and Delbert Messerschmidt. He was an employee at Fanestil Meats for 33 years, retiring as a maintenance worker. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia Eagles Club and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The graveside service for Marvin N. Messerschmidt will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Father Rich Warsnak of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and Parks can be sent in care of the funeral home.
