It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Thomas Mains of Emporia, Kansas, born in Wellsburg, West Virginia, who passed away on May 4, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene A. Bird and Goldie Vanderbush (Williams); and his brother Jackie Bird. He is survived by: his wife Lorena Mains; his children, Deborah Illk (Jeff), Penny Mains and Thomas Mains (Carol) of Emporia; his sister Patricia Brady of Sheridan, Wyoming.; his grandchildren, Darcy Meier (Bryant), Kathleen Macke (Jacob), Tara Davis (Seth), Justin Tabares (Katie), Jake Siebenaler (Tiffany) and Kylie Burenheide (Tanner); and his great grandchildren, Piper, Finley, Luke, Ellie, Maycee, Malloree, Arianna, Arabella, Peyton, Jetta and Adrick. He is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
