He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard F. Jane and Lula Jane (Richardson); his former wife Ruth Schilowsky; his daughter Angela Wiley (Gardner); and his brother Leonard James.
He is survived by: his son Richard; his wife Theresa Seier Gardner (Hupfer); his daughter Christina Scheele (Travis) of Salina, Kansas; and his siblings, Larry and Candy Emery of Agra, Kansas. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established as the Dix Grandchildren Education Fund.
