Karen Sue Winkel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Karen Sue Winkel in Downs, Kansas, born in Saint Paul, Kansas, who passed away on April 3, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joyce Grotz and Noel Grotz; her brother-in-law John Schneider; her son Karl P. Winkel, Jr.; her grandson Mark Winkel; and her great-nephew Sam Schneider.
She is survived by: her children, Kari Eilert (Joe), Steven Winkel (Judi), Christopher Winkel and Kurt Winkel; her granddaughter Karen; her husband Karl P. Winkel of Glen Elder; and her siblings, Gary Grotz (Fe) of Rio Vista, California, Carole Schneider of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Alan Grotz (Kathy) of Mission Viejo, California and Joy Grotz (Jim Pillard) of Beloit. She is also survived by grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St Peter and Paul Catholic Church (1203 Holly St, Cawker City, KS 67430). A vigil service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
