He was predeceased by: his parents, James, Sr. Gilman and Grace "Marie" Gilman (Bloom); and his siblings, Robert Gilman, Betty Barcus and Mary Cech.
He is survived by: his wife Edna Handy of Augustine's Episcopal Church; his sons, Eric Gilman (Christine) and Todd Gilman; his grandsons, T. J. Gilman (Kat), Hunter Gilman (Mikayla), Koby Nguyen, Keenan Nguyen and Kline Nguyen; and his great grandchild Jake Blakenship.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ziegler Funeral Chapel (1901 N 14th Ave, Dodge City, KS 67801). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Cornelius Episcopal Church (200 W Spruce St, Dodge City, KS 67801). A burial was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Graceland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church or the Cancer Center of Kansas both in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
