He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edward and Mary Lucille Stapleton (Schlereth); his former wife Edith Maud (Thornton); his close friend Theo J. Melia; and his siblings, Lucille Abscheer, Aileen E. Lee, Ida L. Kreger, Elmer E., Walter E., George L. and Alexander A..
He is survived by: his children, Phillma Dee Covalt (Wilbur), Edith Elizabeth Winn (Stanley), Mary Lucille Rumbaugh (Dennis), Donalda Kay Stapleton (Troy Weiss) and Alexander Henry Stapleton (Melanie). He is also survived by 21 Grandchildren; and 20 Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
