He was predeceased by: his parents, Melchior Gabel and Cecilia Gabel (Unrein); his siblings, Donald Gabel, Mildred Linenberger and Luella Augustine; and his close friend Caroline Harms.
He is survived by: his former wife Velma Klaus; his children, Dale Gabel (Carole Corley), Jacqueline Randle (Clarke), Vicki Schumacher (Neal), Kelley Morrison (Paul) and DaLanna Nichols; his siblings, Ernest Gabel, Gene Gabel (Rita) and Norma Huser; and his sister-in-law Mary Jane Gabel. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
