He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carl Dowling and Mary Dowling (Kimbell); his wife Louise; his children, Kelly and Shelly Dowling; his grandson Tanner Dowling (Cassi); his great grandchildren, Sache and Cinch of Fair Grove, Missouri; his grandson Garrett Dowling (Chanda); his great grandchildren, Oakley and Tripp of Bois D'Arc, Missouri; his grandchildren, Payden Dowling (Patrick) and Laton Dowling (Sophia); and his great grandchildren, Frankie Lou and Mia of Dodge City.

He was later honored the 4-H Salute Award for over 30 years of contributions to his local club.
