He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles E. Thompson and Dorothy Thompson (Knowles); his wife Sylvia Myers; his children, Angela Bounds (Scott), Eric Thompson, Melissa Blanton (Jeremy), Kevin Thompson (Katie), Amanda Crompton (Mark), Cortney Stonebarger (Michael) and Allison Rush (Tyson); and his brother Morris Thompson (Mary).

Due to increase in COVID infections Leonard and the Thompson family request no visitation to be held.
