He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis C. Buchman and Doris E. Buchman (Burton); and his sister Jo Ann Thurston. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Rex Buchman (Teresa) of Cottonwood Falls and Susie Harshman (Warren) of Clements; his grandchildren, Darcy Norsworthy (Justin), Dana Buchman, Hannah Burlbaw (Steven), Jesse Andersen, Kali Andersen, Burton Harshman (Audra), Spencer Harshman (Lacey), Sam Harshman and Casey Harshman (Jennifer); and his sister Louise Frey of Abilene. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
