He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry "Hank" Rethman and Elda Malloy Rethman. He is survived by: his wife Theresa Hochard of Corning; his daughter Nicole Bowers (Josh) of Corning; his grandchildren, Peyton, Parker Holthaus (Collin), Presly and Paxton; and his siblings, Joan Sheley (Ed) of Corning and Terry Rethman (Elaine) of Corning.

Memorials may be given in Jim's memory to the Corning Ball Association and sent in care of the family.
