He was predeceased by: his parents, George S. Ashland and Annette I. Ashland (Cote); his granddaughter Victoria Ashland; and his siblings, Alan Ashland and Patricia Ashland.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his children, Jesse Morgan (Jesse) of Concordia, Terri Ashland of Concordia, Stacy Stanford (Lee), Salina, Indigo Ashland, Tim Ashland of Concordia and Marco Ashland (Loretta) of Concordia; his grandchildren, Jamie, Haley Morgan, Tristin, Amanda Morgan, Marissa Morgan, Luke Stanford, Nichole and Michael Ashland; and his great grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Scarlett, Rain Morgan and Thea Morgan.

The family suggests memorials to the Wound Warrior Project or the Cloud County Resource Center in care of the funeral home.
