Opal M Wood Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Opal M Wood of Columbus, Kansas, who passed away on August 15, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Mercer and Marie Mercer (Davis); her former husband Charles V Ball; and her siblings, Ralph, Carl Mercer, Mae Harper and Mary Louise Duvall.
She is survived by: her husband Al Wood of California; her children, Janice (Samuel Marsh) of Columbus and Charles W Ball (Debbie) of Strang, OK; her grandchildren, Angela (Aaron Allen) of Aledo, TX, Shelly (Heath Wooldridge) of Batesville, AR, Leah Ball of Neosho, MO and Michael Ball of Neosho, MO; her great grandchildren, Kennedy, Victoria, Wyatt Allen, Ethan Fletcher, Trevor, Madelyn Rackley, Austin and Logan Girdner; and her brother Lee Mercer of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Due to the Covid pandemic a private graveside and burial will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Columbus, KS with Derfelt Funeral Home serving as custodian.
