He was predeceased by: his brothers, Lester, Marlin and Denny; his sisters-in-law, Yvonne, Kate, Rebecca and Dorothy; his daughter-in-law Kelly; and his granddaughter Kayla.

He is survived by: his children, Tina Hansen (Bruce) of Colby, KS, Anita Owens (Stacy) of Edson, KS, Melvin Jr. (Heather) of Wichita, KS and Shaun Musil (Heather) of Hays, KS. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Goodland Senior Center and may be left at the services or sent in care of Bateman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 278, Goodland, KS 67735.
